Introduction

This article explains how to use the Chat feature in the MyConsumables web app. The chat feature allows users within the same organisation to communicate directly with each other for faster coordination and support.

Before you start

  • Logged in to the MyConsumables web app

  • Active account within an organisation

  • Stable Internet connection

What the Chat Feature Is Used For

The Chat feature can be used to:

  • Communicate with colleagues or participant within your organisation

  • Coordinate participant-related actions

  • Clarify order, budget, or plan details

  • Reduce the need for external emails or calls

Accessing the Chat Feature

  1. Log in to the MyConsumables web app.

  2. Open the Chat feature from the main navigation (menu).

Starting a New Chat

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. In the Chat screen, click New Chat (+) icon.

  2. Search for a user by name or email address within your organisation.

  3. Select the user from the results.

  4. The chat conversation will open automatically.

Sending Messages

  1. Type your message in the message input field.

  2. Press Send to deliver the message.

  3. Messages appear in real time for all participants in the chat.

Adding Users to Chat

  • You can start separate chat conversations with different users.

  • Only users within the same organisation can be searched and added.

Important Notes

  • Chat is intended for internal communication only.

  • External users or contacts outside your organisation cannot be added.

  • Chat messages do not replace official system notifications or approvals.

Tips / Best Practices

  • Use chat for quick questions or coordination.

  • Keep sensitive or formal requests within the appropriate system workflows.

  • Stay clear and concise in messages to avoid confusion.

Troubleshooting / Common Issues

  • User not found when searching: Ensure the email belongs to a user within your organisation.

  • Messages not sending: Check your internet connection and refresh the page.

  • Chat not loading: Log out and log back in, then try again.
