When to Invite vs Register a Participant

Introduction

This article explains the difference between inviting and registering a participant in the MyConsumables web app. Understanding when to use each option helps ensure participants are added correctly and managed smoothly.

Before you start

  • Logged in as a Provider or Coordinator

  • Active MyConsumables account

  • Stable Internet connection

Invite a Participant

Use Invite Participant when the Invite option is available and appropriate.

When to Invite

Invite a participant when:

  • The participant already exists in the system or will complete their own access

  • You want the participant to be added and linked to your account

  • The participant will manage or access their account themselves

What Happens When You Invite

  • The participant is added to your participant list after the invite is sent

  • You can begin managing the participant once linked

Register a Participant

Use Register New Participant when you need to create the participant profile directly.

When to Register

Register a participant when:

  • The participant does not yet exist in the system

  • You are setting up the participant on their behalf

What Happens When You Register

  • The participant profile is created immediately

  • The participant appears in your participant list

  • You can immediately manage orders, balances, and details

 

Tips / Best Practices

  • Use Invite when participants can manage their own access.

  • Use Register when participants need full provider support from the start.

  • Confirm participant details before choosing an option.

Troubleshooting / Common Issues

  • Not sure which option to use: Invite the participant first if unsure.

  • Participant not appearing: Refresh the participant list or check invite status.
